I recently toured Acoya Scottsdale while researching senior living options for my parents. The community is undeniably impressive. From the moment you walk in, the environment is exceptionally clean, modern, and easy to navigate. The staff creates a polished atmosphere—everyone was professionally dressed and greeted me with genuine smiles. The dining area, in particular, looked warm and inviting, and seeing residents enjoying their lunch gave the place a very nice energy.
My tour guide was professional and took the time to listen to my family's needs in a private setting, which I appreciated. She explained the continuum of care well, offering peace of mind for aging in place.
While the facility itself is beautiful, I felt there were small opportunities to make the experience even better. The tour focused heavily on the general features of the building, and I would have loved a bit more focus on how the specific programs would fit my mother’s personal lifestyle. Additionally, experiencing a meal firsthand would have been a great touch to truly understand the daily life there.
Overall, Acoya is a stunning community with a professional team. If you are looking for a high-end, modern facility in Scottsdale, it is absolutely worth a visit to see if it fits your specific needs.
Can’t say enough about what a great place this is for my father. The friendly staff, fun activities, interesting off-site trips, GREAT food with different specials every day, a brand new facility, and high caliber residents are a few things that come to mind. When I toured it for my Dad, two different gentlemen my age pulled me aside and told me that this is the best senior living in Scottsdale and that it was great for their parents (I was skeptical at first and thought they were plants :) 7 months in, I can confirm that they are 100% correct. A+
When my parents — my father, now 100, and my mother, in her nineties — moved into Acoya on Shea in December 2023, the community was barely 20% occupied and developing under Cogir's management. After almost 3 years I can say with no reservation that this was a really good decision.
Today, Acoya has about 95% occupancy and the quality of the food and service have improved steadily and noticeably as the community has matured. The continuous process and service improvement model comes a well lead, caring and competent team. Leadership that pays attention, listens and genuinely cares about getting better.
My parents started in independent living, in a very nice two-bedroom apartment. Needs change and evolve for people in their late nineties. As my parents' needs for assistance have increased, the staff continues to meet each new stage with sensitivity, patience, and real clinical and emotional intelligence. Truthfully my parents can be more challenging to work with then the staff. It feels like the team recognize my parents as people.
The Acoya team helped us put together an extraordinary 100th birthday celebration for my dad. Everyone in the community was invited and then later a private dinner for 40 close family and friends. This kind of event took real coordination, lots of effort, and attention to detail. It was a family event no one will ever forget, and it tells how this community helps recognize important milestones and the people who reach them.
Acoya's Executive Director brings an exceptional level of knowledge, sensitivity, and leadership in engaging the community, leadership that sets the tone for every staff interaction, every mealtime, every activity. You can tell this is community that is led, not managed.
Although not inexpensive, it is still a great value and what I will someday look for myself. Acoya is responsive care, a genuine sense of community, a team that grows and improves year over year, and provides the peace of mind that comes from knowing my parents are safe, respected, and well cared for.

Five stars isn’t enough. Exceptional professionalism, outstanding customer care, and a team that truly makes people feel seen and appreciated. You leave feeling confident that you’re in capable hands. I highly recommend Acoya Shea to anyone looking for a care facility that genuinely puts people first.
We love partnering with Acoya Shea for our 3x a week special wellness programs to keep residents healthy, mobile, balanced and experiencing quality fitness classes for their mind, body and spirit. The staff here is hands-on, encouraging and we love that they really value the importance of wellness for social, emotional and cognitive wellness.
