About a year ago, my wife Lisa and I moved into Alderman Oaks in Sarasota, and we both agree it was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
The caring staff is truly amazing. They treat everyone like family, and it’s clear this isn’t just a job for them — it’s a calling. Many of the staff members have been here for years and years, which says a great deal about the leadership and management, especially in an industry known for high turnover.
What’s especially special is the sense of community. The residents genuinely become like extended family, and the overall atmosphere feels more like a boutique bed-and-breakfast than a typical senior living community.
The downtown Sarasota location is ideal. Between the field trips, Lunch Bunch outings, and easy access to everything the city has to offer, it couldn’t be better. Add to that the first-rate weekly live entertainment, and it truly is the frosting on the cake.
We are grateful every day to call Alderman Oaks home.
Alderman Oaks feels like family the second you take in the surroundings in the parking lot. some nice nature-inspired outside sitting areas for residents. Warm, genuine staff -
Independent living on floors one and three, assisted on the second.
Events and outings feel thoughtful, and planned with heart not just scheduled. I heard the neighborhood Christmas Lights evening was super too.
a real blessing to see my parents enjoy this Alderman Oaks part of their lives!
I wholeheartedly recommend if you are looking for one or both of your parents to be in a real senior living experience home; not just a 'facility' - consider showing them the option of Alderman Oaks, Sarasota. Enjoy & tell them i sent you!👍🎶🙏
HH★★★★★8 months agoOur mother lived at Alderman Oaks for two years in assisted living on the second floor. (The 1st and 3rd floors are independent living residences)
The apartments are beautiful, some bigger, some smaller. Our mom had a two room apartment.
What do I love and appreciate about this family owned setting? It is filled with life and love. There is live music every Thursday by amazing musicians, concerts outside under a giant spreading oak tree, presentations, gatherings, wonderful meals, and a dearly compassionate staff. My mother declined and ultimately left, but my family and I are forever grateful for our mother’s happy years at Alderman Oaks. It is a happy, happy place.
My elderly mother lived happily at Alderman Oaks Senior Facility for nearly 6 years. She resided mainly on the Independent floor, but also on the Assisted Living floor when more care was required. This facility is locally owned and operated. You can talk to the staff onsite daily and get your questions answered. Alderman Oaks has a very home-like feel, with about 60 rooms, the residents know and enjoy each other. There are several activities to choose from daily. It is important to note, that the food is exceptional!! High compliments to their chef to serve delicious home-made meals daily, along with home baked desserts too! The staff all know the residents, and excel in making them comfortable. Many of the staff have worked here for over 15-20 years! That's a great compliment to the care! There are a variety of room styles to choose from. The downtown Sarasota location is great for those who still drive or walk. I strongly encourage you to schedule a personal visit to Alderman Oaks to visit yourself or with your family. It is a wise decision to consider having your loved one live here.
My mother moved into Alderman about 18 months ago and it has been life changing for both her and I.
I live 3000 miles away in California and come visit about every 6-8 months. On Wednesday I attended a low impact workout class, a book reading, and ate lunch with her there. On Thursday I ate breakfast in the cafe with my mom and 5 of her new friends and joined them for a happy hour with live music. Some of the staff and residents were up and dancing!!
Before moving into Alderman I was worried about the treatment my mother would receive and if the community activities would interest her or truly help build community. After 18 months and getting to know the staff - who have an average tenure over 10 years - I can confidently recommend Alderman to anyone who's looking for a warm, caring, friendly place for their loved ones.
