debbie nichols★★★★★3 years agoI am 57 and had a stroke 5 years ago. I can’t use my left side. My parents and I went there 3 times. We saw the family advisor Tara 1st, she answered all of our questions during the tour she never asked for my age. We scheduled going back at 2 the following day. She called and told me they let her go and I should ask for Diane. We met with Diane for another look at the room and ask more questions. She never asked for my age in fact she gave us the medical form for the doctor and asked to have it completed and to come back with the form and the $2,000.00 to hold the room. Before I moved in I had to have an assessment by the nurse. I was planning on moving in. The nurse called corporate about my age and they said I was to young. The age limit is 62. After all our visits we were shocked and angry. Honestly I got the impression that I would have been a lot of care. When we told her I need a portable pot by the bed for the middle of the night she wanted to put me in pull ups instead. The nurse said the pot was okay. So rather than empty a pot. Diane thought diapers were the solution. More cleanup is involved plus I would be prone to UTIs. If you’re not not 62 don’t bother. Their web site and brochures don’t mention age discrimination.
Maura Hopkins★★★★★3 years agoThe staff at Lakeshore Manor are so incredible with my Mom!!!
They have taken such good care of her and I trust them implicitly! She is so happy with their care & the Family Advisor was absolutely AMAZING! She has made sure to advise me & my Family with my Mom's healthcare & progres & is one of the most caring & empathetic humans we have ever met! It's a nerve wracking process leaving our wonderful Mother in the care of others but with the Administration & Family Adviser we have never been more confident that our Mom is receiving the BEST! We highly recommend Lakeshore Manor & give it 5+stars to any Family looking for an assisted living environment where loved ones flourish! They are the absolute BEST!
Kimberly Ligman★★★★★3 years agoI was visiting a friend’s relative at Lakeshore the other day and was pleasantly surprised at the level of care and attention given to each and every individual. Her mother and her group of friends all seemed very happy and well cared for. The facility is clean and t well maintained. It’s a difficult task caring for the elderly and I commend the staff on a job well done. One day I too may need to seek care for an elderly relative and would full heartedly choose this facility.
Mandy Williams★★★★★3 years agoDon’t let the beauty of this facility fool you Plus beware of promises and advice if you’re new to assisted living facilities. My family took 3 separate tours before moving my father there. On each occasion we were told by Mrs Ward at these tours that Medicare would send in home healthcare twice a day to manage our fathers diabetes along with giving him his injections 2x times a day. This had been our 1st question at each of the 3 tours. We found out on Wed from VA & Orlando VA hospital (after our dad nearly died) that Medicare would NEVER have paid for home health to come in 2 times a day.
We were also told by Mrs Ward that our dad would be able to use their transportation to take him to his dr appointments. So we moved him in around 7pm (after dialysis) on a Monday. Tues morning I had spoken to the front desk lady about getting my dad transportation to his dialysis. (which again told by Mrs Ward that transportation Mon-Thursday was available). We were then told on Tues that my dads dialysis appointment had to be changed to either 9 or 10am (Which the dialysis time couldn’t be changed based on availability)By Wed morning 8am at breakfast while speaking to the other residents about these issues of transportation and home health they were shocked to hear about our troubles. They said transportation was something that was advertised through the facility and they proceeded to say the front desk lady’s husband was the driver but another said he had been fired on Tues for taking patients into appointments from the vehicle. When I checked on Tues the lady told me they would push him into the dr appointments since my dad was legally blind.
So basically my dad was there about 37 hours total. Mrs Ward texted me call her boss because they wanted to be fair since he had only been there 1 full day. Their fairness was was to keep the $2000 community deposit but also another $1000+ because his furniture had been in the room for a few extra days. When my dad spoke to Michelle Daniels about trying to get some of the community fee back a few weeks later so he could go to another assisted living facility her reply was that they never told us that about the transportation and that myself & my family were to blame in this situation. She basically said all 6 of us who had toured the facility on the 3 different occasions were somehow not told these things and that if my dad couldn’t now afford to go somewhere else he should not have come there in the 1st place. Finally when told that he may go after them in court he was told “Don’t you dare threaten me.” We found this not only to be the most stressful 37 hours but then to basically be told they had no wrong doing was a slap in our faces.
