I would strongly discourage anyone from placing a loved one in this facility. The roach infestation is completely out of control and despite claims of pest control services twice a month, it either isn’t happening or is completely ineffective.
My father was assaulted by another resident and neither my brother nor I were notified by staff. We had to hear about it directly from him. The only “solution” provided was separating them during lunch.
There have also been multiple incidents where my father has fallen and remained on the floor unattended for hours. We were also informed that the emergency pull cords either do not function properly or fail to alert staff in a timely manner.
Communication from management is terrible. I have sent multiple emails requesting information and assistance and have received little to no response. This facility feels careless, poorly managed, and literally falling apart.
Even the so-called backyard area is basically treated as a smoking section, making it impossible for residents with lung or breathing issues to enjoy being outside.
Extremely disappointed and concerned for the safety and well-being of the residents here.
EDIT: I appreciate your response addressing the pest control but while that's a huge, unsanitary problem, it still is the least of our problems considering your broken emergency cords, lack of timely response to emergencies that could be fatal and your response conveniently ignores and doesn't address any of these other issues. I encourage all who have gone through a similar, heart breaking situation to file a formal complaint.
Absolutely disgusting facility. From the moment you walk in, the place reeks of dirty, urine-soaked diapers. There is no excuse for a nursing home to smell like this.
The building is falling apart, rotten walls, filthy rooms, and an obvious roach infestation. The floors are beyond dirty and look like they haven’t been properly mopped in decades. This is NOT a safe or humane living environment for elderly residents.
What’s even more alarming is the lack of care and supervision. Residents who clearly cannot walk or care for themselves are left alone in their rooms, putting them at serious risk of injury. This is neglect, plain and simple.
This place needs to be investigated immediately. The people living here deserve dignity, cleanliness, and proper care, not this level of filth and disregard.
My mom has lived at The Colony Club for a little over a year now and she loves it! She moved in a few months after the new owners took over and is really pleased with the nursing staff, physical therapists, aides, her room and the activities. I live out of state and have easy access to speaking with the facility administrator, Donna, whenever Mom has a request or concern, and get action and return communication in a timely manner. When I’ve visited The Colony Club, I find the staff warm and genuinely caring about my mom and her health, happiness and vitality. My mom appreciates all the activities (music, dancing, nightly movies, church services, etc) and relaxing while chatting with friends on the gorgeous patio. I am so happy we found such a wonderful and supportive home for Mom.
A resident in a wheelchair was left waiting outside the front door for more than 20 minutes after I helped wheel her there. I ran into a resident on her way back who asked me for help pushing her wheelchair. I couldn’t believe that she was made to wait so long at the entrance on a cold evening. I tried calling the number multiple times to no avail, and the mailbox was full.
Colony Club Sunrise is a true Colony of Family,
I have been to Colony to visit several residents that I know personally. My experiences have been very positive and reassuring the the Team that’s in place starting with the Director and all staff are there for all the right reasons. They are Loving and considerate of the residents and Their family’s. They look out for their best interests always. As we know Senior care is not easy and choosing a community for your loved ones is difficult. We want them to be cared for as we would take care of them. Let’s keep in mind that no place is perfect as we as people are not as well. We make mistakes but this place strives for perfection in caring for the residents in all aspects of Senior Living. You can see the wonderful interaction that the entire staff has with the community of this building. The management is always looking for ways to improve the quality of care by Educating there staff with continuous education in Senior care. They have qualified professionals working around the clock to deliver such care. They are constantly investing in State of the Art technology to improve the community Safety, security and well being of the residents. I find this Community to be a Healthy fit for my parents. The most important part of choosing a home for your loved one is making sure that you make the best Educated decision possible for them. I would highly Recommend to visit the Colony Community for a tour. When you meet with the Director Donna Yam.I am sure you will understand what I mean by Colony being a Family Quality Care facility.
