When my dad’s health started to decline and it was clear he needed more support than we could provide at home, I was filled with anxiety and guilt. I visited several assisted living places in the area, but the moment I walked into Castlewood, something just felt right. It’s warm, inviting and most importantly it felt like home.
From day one, Patricia and her team were transparent, compassionate and incredibly helpful. They took time to answer every question I had (and I had a lot) and never once made me feel rushed or like I was “just another family.” Patricia clearly knows this work inside and out, especially when it comes to navigating things like Medicaid and long-term planning. That kind of support was invaluable during such a stressful time.
My dad has now been living at Castlewood for six months and I can confidently say this was one of the best decisions we've ever made. He’s eating better, he’s more social and he has a spark in him again that I hadn’t seen in years. The staff is attentive, respectful and genuinely kind. You can tell they treat every resident like family not like a job.
The facility itself is spotless, beautifully decorated and doesn’t have that cold, clinical feel many larger places do. The small number of residents allows for real, personal relationships to develop not just between staff and residents, but among the residents themselves. I’ve seen firsthand how this community brings people together.
The home-cooked meals smell amazing every time I visit and my dad (who was always picky!) raves about the food. They’ve also been very accommodating to his dietary needs. Activities are thoughtful and engaging, and the staff regularly goes out of their way to celebrate birthdays, holidays and other special moments.
To anyone reading this and feeling overwhelmed about making this decision for a loved one, please schedule a tour. You’ll see exactly what I mean. Castlewood isn’t just a place where seniors are taken care of. It’s a place where they’re respected, seen and valued.
Thank you, Castlewood team for treating my dad like your own. You’ve given our whole family peace of mind and that is absolutely priceless.
I give Castlewood 5 stars. My grandmother made the transition to Castlewood from her own apartment. I was very concerned as transitions get harder as we age. Patricia, the owner, as well as the staff have been a *class act* throughout the entire process. There are always fresh snacks out and available for the residents. Each room is beautifully decorated. There is an outdoor living space with lots of greenery and shade. There are gorgeous paintings along the walls. The ambience is warm, yet tidy and clean. The chef creates the most beautiful meals for the residents that smell delicious throughout the home at meal times. He has catered to my grandmothers, personal dietary preferences and needs. Patricia has been in constant communication with me. Every request has been met with readiness and grace. The staff are polite and educated. Miss Viola, for example, has been nursing for 49 years! I’ve gotten to know the staff by name. Every time I arrive, I see different ways that the caregivers go above and beyond to make this assisted living facility everything but a facility. It is home. They give their residents a home to transition into. With 24 hour care, my grandma has been able to take her meds the way she wants and needs to (per doctor’s scripts). You’ll miss out if you don’t stop in for a tour. They only have about 12 rooms. (another perk) Thank you Castlewood for all you do. I’m happy to be a reference. I can’t wait to see how this home grows with more joy and comfort.
Castlewood Assisted Living Residence is a wonderful home like atmosphere. The Director Patricia is a kind, knowledgeable, professional, and kind care giver. Patricia and her staff made the transition for my loved one a smooth experience during a very difficult time. We Thank you so so much. Terry & Family
Highly recommended! Castlewood Assisted Living offers compassionate care, a warm environment, and professional staff, you can tell they treat residents like family.
Castlewood Assisted Living Residence is cozy and charming with very personal attention. It was recently renovated and is very clean and fresh. Patricia and all her staff are warm, concerned and extremely helpful.
Our sister made an intimidating move to Castlewood from out of state. The intimate size and skilled staff smoothed this difficult transition for her. They are very understanding and continue to provide her with patient and compassionate attention. They went all-out to host a festive celebration for her birthday, where everyone participated. They've hosted holiday BBQ's and other fun events for the residents and family visitors.
The rooms are warm and nicely decorated. Each room is a bit different. There is not a 'instututional' feeling from the building or the staff.
It is also very well located. Within a few blocks there are several large churches, the library, and main street shops and restaurants. For out of town visitors, it is a short drive straight east of the expressway exit on Route 60, and just a few blocks west if traveling on US 1.
Pursuing state Medicaid assistance has been very complicated. Patricia is very knowledgeable about all aspects of Medicaid and has been invaluable in helping us thru the process. We literally would be lost without her expertise.
Castlewood is a wonderful alternative to the large, impersonal style of institution, which is so common. I highly recommend it to you!
