I'm a current resident at this assisted living facility. This place indeed does have a pleasant and homey atmosphere.
Last year and during the spring months this year, the facility was understaffed which now is no longer a problem. New staff have been hired.
Meals: Many of the residents, including myself, have been having issues about the menu and the food served.
The menu has been repetitive every day. The menus are for lunches and dinners ( no menu for breakfast). We have 4 or 5 choices for the entree or main dish. Every single day, there is Baked Tilapia and, too, Hot Dogs listed as entree items. Every single day.
Also, sometimes you don't get what you have ordered. We need choose from the menu paper for each lunch meal and dinner meal. We normally fill out our menus in advance; for example, we are given the menu papers for the following week (for Sunday through Saturday) on the previous week, usually on Thursday in the evening or on Friday. So there are 14 menu pages (or papers): each page is for a meal, and we can mark the items we want to eat (or circle the item) to select. So, for example, I circle the item I want for my dessert from a choice of 3 different desserts for Wednesday for lunch (the Main Meal). I selected the "Ice Cream of the Day". When the day came, and lunch was served, I didn't receive ice cream-- I got sherbet instead. Other residents in my dining room were not happy about it either. ( This actually happened recently.) Or, I selected (in advance as usual) "Chocolate chip cookies" for my dessert for a dinner; then at the mealtime, I received sugar cookies instead. The desserts are delicious though; I like the strawberry cream pie, chocolate cream pie, key lime pie, and the pineapple upside down cake.👍
There are options for diabetics; one of the 3 dessert options is sugar free - such as "no sugar added ice cream of the day" and "no sugar added blueberry pie". I've tried these and they're pretty good.
The kitchen staff sometimes put too much salt on the vegetables or in the soup. Recently, the cream of carrot soup was much too salty. Yuck. Most residents didn't eat it.
Sometimes the vegetables are either too raw or too seasoned. These vegetables, for example, green beans and carrots should be cooked enough. But sometimes the carrots and green beans are only half cooked.

Here are the accompanying items that the chef & cook do well:❤️

The food has been improving over the past month and a half.👍
Also, we had a new Director of Dining join the community in the first week of September; he oversees the chef and the cook. The new director hopefully will give us more options and variety to select from on the lunch and dinner menus for each week.
As far as cleanliness of the building, the staff who regularly clean each resident's room are doing a good job. 👍They are very efficient, respectful, pleasant and polite.
The maintenance staff are excellent. 👍If and when something needs maintenance and repairs, it is always taken care of and you're pleased. He is very polite and is a hard worker. He can help you with your television!
We are soon going to have more activities. I'm happy about that.
No assisted living facility is 100% perfect all of the time.
The dining room floors are not kept clean -- should be mopped every week at least.
The Staff are very Caring! 👍
